The Other Forgotten Soldier: Save-A-Vet
NIU presents "The Other Forgotten Solcier: Save-A-Vet" on January 30 at the Holmes Student Center. Save-A-Vet helps rescue military working dogs from being put down when their service is done. SAV provides housing for disabled veterans in exchange for caring for the dogs. Danny Scheurer, accompanied by retired military working dog Nero from SAV, will discuss the hardship of placing these dogs due to their attack training, field experiences, and injuries suffered in the line of duty, including the same PTSD that afflicts many of their fellow human veterans.
