The Canterbury Tales

« Return to Calendar

The NIU School of Theatre and Dance presents "The Canterbury Tales" on November 8 through 11. This adaptation of Geoffrey Chaucer’'s famous work is a re-tellingof seven of the original twenty-four stories, intertwined with songs and dance from the period and biographical detail about Chaucer’s life and relationship with the courts of Richard II and Henry IV. Presented partially as it was written in Middle English,"The Canterbury Tales" maintains the original spirit of the tales, which was to ironically and critically portray the turbulent England of the time, from politics to religion and from chivalry to baseness.

Curtain times are 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and 2:00 p.m. on Sunday. This production is at the Stevens Building Corner Theatre on the NIU Campus. For more information and tickets, please visit www.niu.edu/theatre.
