Ace spellers take the stage Saturday
Does anyone remember the nerves you would get when you had to spell a word in front of your English class? Or if you passed that test the entire school?!
I never made it past the classroom competition, but the experience taught me a lot. Getting the words wrong actually helped me to remember them.
Well this Saturday kids from around DeKalb County will get their chance to go beyond the classroom to compete in the DeKalb County Spelling Bee. The spelling bee begins at 10 a.m. Saturday at Kishwaukee College in Malta.
I'd like to wish all the kids good luck, and remind them that even if they get a word wrong it will teach you something, so don't feel bad about it.
If you want to see the spelling bee, but can't make it out to the competition, you can watch it at www.daily-chronicle.com.
Good Luck Everyone!
