History brown bag previews house walk
Many people enjoy walking and driving through Sycamore’s historic district, and would love to get a glimpse inside some of these beautiful homes. Those who go on the Pumpkin Fest Historic Homes Tour on Oct. 26 can visit six historic locations in Sycamore. At a Sycamore History Museum Brown Bag Lunch on Oct. 3, Steve Bigolin will talk about the House Walk and the history of this year’s homes, and give a sneak preview of what might be featured next year.
“The Historic Homes Tour is a great event. This year’s theme is ‘Movers and Shakers,’” Michelle Donahoe, executive director of the museum, said in a news release. “Due to the generosity of homeowners, the Sycamore History Museum is able to share local history in the space where some extraordinary people lived. Visitors truly enjoy discovering the stories connected to these amazing buildings in our community. Steve Bigolin is part of a great committee that has been working hard make the House Walk a very successful fundraiser for the museum.”
The Brown Bag Lunch is at noon the first Thursday of the month at the Sycamore History Museum, 1730 N. Main St. in Sycamore. It is free and open to the public; donations are welcome. For more information, call 815-895-5762 or visit www.sycamorehistory.org.
